This is a small collection of personal material removed from publications in the library of Hasso Von Winning which was purchased by the Ingalls Library in 2004. It consists of correspondence, information on publications, and research material.

Biographical/Historical note
Hasso Von Winning was an anthropologist, archeologist, and curator of Mesoamerian art. Born in 1914 in Heidelberg, Germany, he spent twenty-five years studying in Mexico where he received a degree in archeology and anthropology from the Escuela Naciaonal de Antropologia of the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico in Mexico City. He moved to the United States in 1948 where he was a consultant in Mesoamerican archeology at the Southestern Museum in Los Angeles. he authored and reviewed books and articles on Pre-Columbian art and had a large personal library of rare and important volumes that trace the Western study of Pre-Columbian art back to its inception. He also had a large personal collection of Pre-Columbian works of art.
