Set B 56 - Egyptian Coloured Cards Wooden Models from Egyptian Tombs
Scope and Contents note
Postcards of objects from the British Museum are divided into four subseries. First subseries of postcards are black and white and arranged by set number. Each set consists of roughly a dozen postcards and has a specific subject. Many sets have similar themes and subjects. The second and third subseries, Coloured B Series and Coloured C Series, follow similar arrangements with the notable exceptions that they are in color and contain fewer postcards per set. Entering the library's collections between 1918 and 1937, the monochrome subseries and Coloured B were collected simultaneously wheresas Coloured C Series was collected at later dates. Postcards measure either 3 1/2 by 5 1/2 or 4 1/8 by 5 7/8. Most sets throughout all series contain an information card. Each postcard is numbered with set and number. File names derived from wrappers. The fourth subseries consists of cards not belonging to any set and depict the interiors and exteriors of museums.
