Scope and Contents note

From the Collection:

This small collection includes incorporation and business records of the Cleveland Society of Artists. The society was founded in 1913 by Cleveland artists George Adomeit and Charles Skackelton, carrying on the traditions of two earlier groups, the Art Club and the Cleveland Arts Club, encouraging local artists and promoting their work. The society maintained a rivalry with the more bohemiam Kokoon Arts Club. It disbanded in 1983.
