Articles of Incorporation, 1921; Agreement between Mr. and Mrs. George A. Schmidt and the Cleveland Society of Artists for the care of the CSA building, 1921; Amendments to the articles of incorporation, 1927, 1921-1927
Scope and Contents note
This small collection includes incorporation and business records of the Cleveland Society of Artists. The society was founded in 1913 by Cleveland artists George Adomeit and Charles Skackelton, carrying on the traditions of two earlier groups, the Art Club and the Cleveland Arts Club, encouraging local artists and promoting their work. The society maintained a rivalry with the more bohemiam Kokoon Arts Club. It disbanded in 1983.
