Scope and Contents note
Awards were given to artists in the form of certificates, medals and cash. Congratulatory letters to award winners are filed alphabetically by year along with lists of award winners. Sporadic samples of certificates may be found in the files. Information on the Horace E. Potter Memorial Award for Excellence in Craftsmanship, Ohio Arts Council, Treuhaft Foundation, and endowment funds and funds for purchasing works are also available in sporadic years, as well as the three major cash awards provided by the museum's trustees. Information on two major purchase prizes given by B.G.R. Associates, developers of The Chesterfield in Erieview, to acquire works of art for permanent exhibition is also available. Additional information may also be filed in series 1, the chronological files of Director's office.
