This small collections includes the earliest records of the Horace Kelley Art Foundation, originally incorporated as The Cleveland Museum of Art according to the terms of Horace Kelley's will fo 1890. The foundation changed its name in 1913 when the Cleveland Museum of Art was incorporated.

Scope and Contents note The records of Sherman Lee document his tenure as director from 1958 to1983. Because he was also chief curator of Oriental art during his directorship, these records document many of the activities in the Oriental art department, particularly during the 1950s and 1960s. During Lee's administration the museum grew in size and complexity, so the director's office records do not document all of the museum's activities as they did in previous administrations, but still serve as the central point...
