Museum departments were given the opportunity to buy pieces of art from the May Show to add to the permanent collection. Information includes the department and exact fund or purchaser for the piece of art. Receipts show the 10% discount not reflected on the list, address of the artist and in some instances the date of the accession meeting.

Scope and Contents note From the Sub-Series: A sales receipt was issued for each object sold at the May Show. The receipt identifies the purchaser and the artist's name and piece. However, the copy retained by the museum does not always list the price of the art object. The only original receipts in the collection are for the years 1958-1968, 1976, and 1990.
