Biographical / Historical

Young was born in Los Angeles and has spent his career as a glass artist. He worked as a professor and Head of the Glass department at the Cleveland Institute of Art from 1973 until his retirement in 2014. He also served as Head of the Glass department at Aichi University, located in Japan, where he built the studio, curriculum, and teaching schedule. This was the first glass program offered at any national university in Japan. Young won the Cleveland Arts Prize in 1987 and has his work in the permanent collections at the Corning Museum of Glass, Carnegie Museum of Art, American Glass Museum, Cleveland Museum of Art, and many more.
