Scope and Contents note

From the Collection:

This collection was transferred to the archives from the Ingalls Library which had retained a large number of lantern slides as historic objects following digitization of the image library. The collection consists of image masters for views of architecture; artwork, including works by Cleveland artists and a small number of works from educational exhibitions; Cleveland Museum of Art views not duplicated in photo studio department records; and a lecture on camouflage from WWII retained as an example of mid 20th century educational and public service programming. In many instances the lantern slides provide the archives' only color respresentation of works of art exhibited in the museum's May Show and other exhibitions.

The architectural images are from the 1943 exhibition "Early Ohio Architecture", organized by the Taft Museum, and are arranged by the digital surrogate number. Art objects are organized chronologically by the exhibition in which they appeared if this information is available. The camouflage lecture is arranged in the order presented by the lecturer.
