Biography

Anthony Vaiksnoras was born in DuBois Pennsyvania around 1918. His family moved to Cleveland when he was a boy where he attended East Tech high school, winning honors in the National Scholastic art competition and a scholarship to the Cleveland Institute of Art where he majored in industrial design. He exhibited oil paintings, watercolors, pastels, and enamels in the May Show beginning in 1940, winning numerous awards. Following military service during World War II when he was stationed in Paris and met both Constantin Brancusi and Pablo Picasso, he returned to Cleveland, establishing the PDA Company focusing on packaging design. In addition to the May Show Mr. Vaiksnoras exhibited in museums and galleries around the country including the Butler Art Museum and Corcoran Gallery. He died in 1973.
